The King’s Game

It appears that in King County, WA, Private Property Isn’t.

KING COUNTY, Wash.– Residents of King County, Wash., will only be able to build on 10 percent of their land, according to a new law being considered by the county government, which, if enacted, will be the most restrictive land use law in the nation.

Known as the 65-10 Rule, it calls for landowners to set aside 65 percent of their property and keep it in its natural, vegetative state. According to the rule, nothing can be built on this land, and if a tree is cut down, for example, it must be replanted. Building anything is out of the question.

History lesson, children: This is not a new concept. For centuries, the British Crown prohibited private citizens from felling tall white pine in the colonies. The rationale was simple — no one owned land but the king, and he wanted the tall white pine for ship masts for his Navy. He wanted it, and he was going to take it.

It was the same with game. Game belonged to the King, all the way back to Richard II. You could only hunt game if you were noble or if you were granted that privilege by an estate. Why? Because it was the King’s game, and he could decide who was allowed to hunt it.

It doesn’t matter if it was your land. It wasn’t your trees. It wasn’t your game. You couldn’t reap the benefits of your land unless the King decided to let you.

We fought a revolution to end that. I think it is noteworthy that this sort of insanity comes up in King County.

If it is your land, then you do on it as you please as long as you don’t violate the property rights of another. If you can’t do what you want on your land, then it isn’t your land anymore. It is the King’s (County) land.

I would build what I want, and I would shoot any sumbitch that came to tear it down. Really.

Funny thing is…You can’t build anything you want to or even cut down a damned tree here in FL. You have to go and get a permit to either, then have an inspector come out and make sure that your building is up to code and that you have planted 3 trees to make for the 1 you cut down. 3 trees!!! I cut the tree down to get it the hell out of my yard, why the hell would I plant 3 more.

Wow, talk about Communism. The residents there need to fight this with all they have, because if it wins, it may very well spread like cancer.

These environmentalists are not very bright. Instead of having big beatiful acres of land with one house, a barn, tennis courts, etc. they will force land owners to sell their land to developers. For every 100 acres, a developer can build 40 beautiful homes sitting on 2.5 acres or less (worse would be those that build 100-200 homes on the same 100 acres) and what will the nature lovers have created. By all accounts the so calle dnature loving environmentalists will be forcing the massive growth of housing and land development.

STUPID people trying to force their views on others who just so happen have a diiferent value set aside for themselves and their children.
