GOLDBERG: It’s a very- and I say this with a huge amount of love. It’s a very white way to look at it.
HASSELBECK: What do you mean?
GOLDBERG: And I, I’m saying this with love, so I understand, because it’s never.
HASSELBECK: Let me take off my “white” goggles.
SHEPHERD: You can’t. I wish you could. You can’t.
GOLDBERG: But you can’t. That’s what I’m trying to explain. This, for us, is totally- it’s not an experience I can explain to you. I can’t explain why black folks are saying “oh my God.”
I guess it is OK to express racist views as long as “say it with love.” Whoopi apparently thinks that it is absolutely impossible for Hasselbeck to see her viewpoint because of the color of her skin. This is infuriating.
We’ve heard this shit before. “You can’t let negros go free — they don’t understand how to handle themselves.” It’s the same shit warmed over and served from the other side of the equation.
I can’t think of a bigger insult to throw at a black person than to say, “Well, of course you think ‘X’, that’s the black way to look at it.” Even if I say it with love. Apparently Whoppi thinks that all white people are born racist. That’s irony.
Suppose there was a race, between a white man and a black man. Suppose that black people split about 50-50, but white people voted 90%+ for the white man. If I heard that, I would think that the white people doing the voting were racist.
And I would be right. And telling black people, “oh, that’s a very black way to look at it” would be bullshit.
