Thugs in Uniform

I saw this article titled Financial mess rocks Providence and when I read this part:

Some critics point to the purchase of a $20,000 used sport utility vehicle to carry the police drug dog. Last fall, the dog destroyed the vehicle’s interior, gnawing on the steering wheel, dashboard and headliner.

Deputy City Clerk Patsy Hughes said the cost to replace and install a steering column was $400, but there may be other costs.

Am I the only one who thought about Junior and the police dog on Reno 911? As for the rest of the article, I suspect that this sort of thing is more typical than the state makes it out to be.

What happened to just plain dog crates? Does the dog really need a friggin’ SUV.

Yeah. It’s taxpayer’s money. Throw that thing in a $30 crate and be done with it.
