My iPhone review

Yes, I have one now.

If I had a needledick, I would fuck the headphone jack.

Raiding Again

Look what happens when you invite my guild into your raid when you are stuck on Moroes…

iPhone again

New York Times:

Edward Snyder, an equity analyst with Charter Equity Research, said that many people would be turned off by the price; older customers who can afford it, he said, will not care about all the fancy features of the iPhone, while younger ones who are excited about the device will not like the cost.

Over all, Mr. Snyder said, the iPhone will appeal to maybe 3 percent to 5 percent of wireless phone users. And he said he was skeptical that it would work as well as advertised.

Where have we heard this story before?

  • Too expensive
  • No new features that aren’t already out there
  • Lacks features of other models
  • Market too small
  • Locks people into a proprietary network

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is the iPod all over again. It is expensive. Only a small percentage of the population will have them. Unfortunately for you, it is the coolest percentage of the population. A percentage that is almost 100% Influentials. People who are connected enough to make use of the iPhone and have enough disposable income to splurge on it. And then, when people are paying the high price to get them because the Influentials have them, the price will be lowered, and Apple will be measuring their daily sales in tons.

And for the price that everyone is scared of? It is exactly $100 more expensive than the first iPods, for roughly the same storage space.

One Line Fisking

If scientists had trusted my gut feeling instead of making gestures at the scientific method, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

Intellectual Discourse

On a radio program that features:

  • Two radio professionals
  • A criminal defense lawyer
  • A licensed realtor
  • A psychologist
  • An oncologist, and
  • A urologist

The main subject of discourse so far this week? Using a dictaphone to record your farts.

I love this show.

Man Killed Near Austin Juneteenth Festival:

Police said at 9:31 p.m. Tuesday patrol officers responded to a “person down” call at 900 Thompson Street (map). There they found David Rivas Morales, 40, who had suffered trauma to his body. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Police say that Morales was a passenger in a car that hit a 3 or 4-year-old child in the parking lot of the Brooke T. Washington Apartments. Immediately after the accident, somebody assaulted the driver of the car.

Then witnesses said several black males began beating Morales when he stepped out of the vehicle to try and stop the crowd from assaulting the driver. Police believe there were 2,000 to 3,000 people in the area when the driver and Morales were attacked.

The area is near Rosewood Park, where Juneteenth festivities were taking place Tuesday night.

(My emphasis.) I don’t know about you, but on the face of it, this looks like a bona fide hate crime. What are the chances that it will actually be treated like one?
