Obama’s FCC Pick

Obama’s FCC pick:

Last week, tucked inside a short announcement of White House nominations being sent to the Senate for confirmation was a little-noticed line: “Mignon L. Clyburn, of South Carolina, to be a Member of the Federal Communications Commission for a term of five years.”

Clyburn is the eldest daughter of James Clyburn and a member of South Carolina’s Public Service Commission. She’s also a former weekly newspaper publisher.

From Obama’s “Blueprint for Change” in the Ethics section:

Reform the Political Appointee Process: FEMA Director Michael Brown was not qualified to head the agency, and the result was a disaster for the people of the Gulf Coast. But in an Obama administration, every official will have to rise to the standard of proven excellence in the agency’s mission.

Change you can believe in.
