Double Done with Cain

There are so many unforced errors here that it’s exacerbating.  I was already done after Cain’s “I won’t have any filthy Muslims in my administration” creed test.  Now, there’s this.

Here’s the rundown.  The Washington Post ran a hit piece on Perry that said that his parents rented a hunting lease that once had a rock naming it Niggerhead at the entrance, and that Perry says that as soon soon as his dad saw it in 1983-84 (hard to remember the exact year nearly three decades later) it was painted over.  Even later than that, Perry started using the lease and took lawmakers there.  Some of those lawmakers now allegedly claim, anonymously, two decades later, that they remember seeing it.  (Seeing it painted over but not completely hidden.)

The WaPo hit piece claims that Perry is racist because… some other people around there still call it Niggerhead.  Oooooookay.

Cain goes even further than that.

“My reaction is, that’s just very insensitive,” Cain told Fox. “[There] isn’t a more vile, negative word than the N-word, and for him to leave it there as long as he did, before I hear that they finally painted over it, is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country.”

My problem isn’t that Cain is calling Perry racist.  He isn’t.  Insensitive is a different charge.  My problem is that Cain is wrong.  He didn’t “leave it there.”  In fact, Amanpour corrects him on that.

That brings me to my first big complaint.  What the fuck is Cain doing giving an interview to Christaine Amanpour?  She’s not a journalist.  Hasn’t been for a long time.  She’s a liberal pundit hiding in a journalist suit.  She’s not there to “interview” you.  She’s there to either attack you, or use you as a means to attack other conservatives.  That’s it.  Don’t go on her show.  Plus she’s an idiot — and if she still has a better grasp of the facts than you, then that’s a Very Bad Sign.

Honestly, any time you are attacking another Republican and she’s defending that Republican, especially Rick Perry, you are way, way off the reservation.  Klaxons should have been sounding in your head.

The second complaint is, why hasn’t anyone noted that when all of this is supposedly happening, Rick Perry was a Democrat?  These visits where lawmakers supposedly saw this rock was when he was Ag Sec for Ann Richards, not GWB.  Those would have been Democrat lawmakers out there turning a blind eye to the Niggerhead rock.

The story I take from this is that you can have a hunting lease at a place called Niggerhead and take other lawmakers there with impunity, as long as you are a Democrat.  But if you change to the Republican Party, all of the sudden you are a Certified Racistâ„¢.
